This is typically the first session couples will schedule. It’s not only a great way for us to get to know each other, but more importantly, we get to have a great time capturing you and the love of your life. Scroll down for a guide to everything you wanted to know about engagement sessions!
What is an engagement session?
A one to two hour portrait session of you and your future spouse. You can use them for social media, your wedding website, save-the-dates, etc.
WHERE CAN WE GO FOR OUR SESSION?
We can go anywhere around the OKC area, or Tulsa if you live in that area. Special arrangements can be made if you have an idea for a location that requires travel. I always ask the couples about ideas and locations that are meaningful to them. Such as where they met, or went to school together, etc. If you do not have a specific place in mind, then we can choose locations based on a style you like. We can shoot at multiple locations if you book a two hour session.
WE HAVE A FUN IDEA FOR OUR SHOOT. CAN WE DO THAT?
I love making your ideas a reality! I was once asked if I would be willing to take photos from an open cockpit bi-plane with the couple flying beside us in their plane! I was so excited for that one, and I could not wait to shoot! If you have something in mind, please don’t hesitate to ask!
what do we wear for our engagement?
CAN WE WEAR MORE THAN ONE OUTFIT?
The one hour session is limited to one outfit and one location. If you decide you want the two hour session, that will allow for a few different locations, and up to three outfits. This is dependent on how far the locations are from each other.
An example of a 2 hour shoot might include the following: The first location could be somewhere downtown or midtown. Then a change of outfits, and on to the second location, maybe the river area for a stroll along the river walk. Then the last clothing change, and over to the Wheeler Park ferris wheel for the third and final location at sunset.
what are the scheduling details?
I schedule engagement sessions Monday through Friday, and occasionally on Saturday’s if my schedule permits. I like to shoot the last two hours of daylight on sunny days for the best light, and any time on overcast days.
WEATHER & SCHEDULING
If the weather is bad on your scheduled shoot day, we can change it to another day with no issue. When we schedule the intial date, I always ask for a backup date just in case. Rain and wind over 15 mph are the usual suspects, and I would rather reschedule so you can have the best possible portraits.
WHAT IS THE SHOOT LIKE AND HOW DO WE POSE?
My number one goal is to have fun! I’ve always hated having my photo taken, so I like to have my couples interact like I’m not even there. I’ll guide you along, and give you minimal instructions so it’s not awkward and posey. So many people have expressed how relaxed and fun their sessions were. I have been doing this for a while now, and it’s my job to make you feel at ease so we can get the best photos possible.
CAN WE BRING OUR KIDS OR A PET?
Yes! If you want to have the kids or pets in some of the photos, I would have a family member or friend there to watch them. I like to do the shots with the kids and pets when we first get started, so the remainder of the session can be focused on you and your future spouse.
